  • How long you waited

And explain how you felt about waiting such a long time.

------

I’d like to talk about an occasion when I had to wait a very long time for my friend at the airport.

So, it was last year when my best friend, Khanh, returned from her study abroad. Since we hadn’t seen each other for nearly four years, I offered to pick her up at the airport as soon as I was informed about her homecoming.

A few weeks later, I got to the airport far ahead of her scheduled arrival time because I couldn’t wait to meet my closest friend again after ages. However, much to my dismay, the airport employee announced that all incoming flights were being delayed due to adverse weather conditions, which means that Khanh’s flight was also postponed by an astonishing four hours.

As a result of this mishap, I decided to stroll around the airport terminal, grab a cup of coffee and while away the evening reading some sort of fashion magazines. The airport at that time was bustling with activity and I could see lots of people were anxiously waiting for their relatives just like me. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Khanh’s flight landed safe and sound, blowing away all of my worry and exhaustion. Then, as she made her way through the arrival gate towards me, we greeted each other enthusiastically and later headed to a nearby café to catch up on each other’s lives as well as reminisce about happy old times.

All in all, waiting for my friend at the airport for such an extended period was a truly difficult test of my patience. But despite the inconvenience caused by that flight delay, the joy of being reunited with my bestie made it a particularly memorable experience that I guess I’ll never forget.
